After everyone was up-and-at-em, we went down to the harbor to get some fresh fish. The red shops are the original fish selling shops. These have been converted to restaurants, and the morning catch is now sold large-scale auction style in a warehouse just behind.
Old boat, new boat. That one in the back was a biggie, until you look out into the ocean. Then I think - nope, not big enough for me. I'm staying on shore, thank you very much.
Here are the kids getting a lesson on how fish used to be preserved. These were flat fish (you know, with the two eyes on one side), salt cured, and then strung out to dry. No flies, so it must work.
And then after a walk around town (shops were open, even on a SUNDAY!), we stopped and got some of our own fish to bring home.
While Rich took a nap after lunch, Peter and I headed for the beach. You have to climb up the dunes that parallel the beach, and then go down to the beach. It was an extremely windy day - so us MNasotans just waded and played in the the sand for a bit. There were people swimming though, however briefly (actually its more like - run in, scream and jump around, and then run out).
