breakfast talk

So this morning we opened a birthday invitation. It said to be on time for a surprise guest. Hmmm. We tried to think who it might be.

After exhausting the usual suspects Peter mentioned Sam.

Sam? We know a lot of Sams. Sam the neighbor...Sam the other neighbor...Sam at daycare...Sammy in DK...

He clarified - "You know, the one who gave that meat to the warriors."

Think hard and quick mommy.

Oh yeah - At the July 4th festival we saw an ancient man dressed as Uncle Sam. He was tiny, and brittle, and he was missing a lot of teeth. But he looked awfully happy so I said "Hi Uncle Sam." The oddity of him stuck in Pete's mind, and later Rich explained who he was. Its fun to see how his brain filed away the information he was given.

A brief explanation of the original Uncle Sam.
