The Weekend

This past Saturday we were invited to a friend's home to experience a traditional Danish Christmas dinner. On the menu was roast whole duck with apples and jelly, twice cooked potatoes (in a sugar glaze - yummy), medister sausage, and cooked red cabbage. For dessert there was rice pudding with cherry preserve (not jelly, just kind of a sauce). Although I'm not a dessert person, I really liked the pudding. It was not too sweet, and contained vanilla and chunks of almonds. A great dinner, and I enjoyed it even more since I didn't have to cook anything.

We brought a cake with us, onto which Rich frosted a Danish flag. On the ride to their home we both noticed that that the flag was incorrect; the horizontal line should have been higher.

Notice the hair??? Earlier that day the boys got a haircut. Rich however, said no to the mohawk and coloring.

And last of all, peter played a bit too rough with his friend that night. I'm not sure what exactly happened, but we think he might have fell on his shoulder wrong. Sunday morning he seemed to still be in a lot of pain, so we went into the emergancy room. Turns out he has a broken clavicle - now he has something in common with both Grandpa Barrett and Grandpa Steve.

Although he is sore, he seems to be doing better with the bandage on. It holds the broken bone together, so he doesn't have the piercing pain when it falls out of place. The doctor at the hospital said that the break was "very nice" - I think she meant that it was an OK break, nothing *really* bad. She also said it should heal fine with no problems as he grows up.
