Can superhero vampires swim?

Friday we were at a friend’s place for playgroup. Pete got to dress up like one of his favorite superheroes, and he got to play his favorite instrument, while singing his favorite song of late (Vampire from the Juno soundtrack).

Art project. Although in the end he was frustrated and gave up, he was excited to try it, so that’s a big step for us.

Our hostess served SUPER YUMMY apple cider from the factory in Ørbæk – the place she told us about last week. She said it happens like this – they weigh your car with the apples in it, then without. Then they trade you your whole apples for already made, pasteurized, cartonized juice. She got 10 liters in return for 80 kilo of apples.

So Saturday we were off to *our tree* once again. And this time we were prepared with a big old stick. Here Peter is all set to go in his apple collecting outfit (which is extremely similar to his Shrek Puss ‘N Boots cat outfit) – boots, compass, binoculars, bug watch, Diego watch, pirate sword and pirate hat.

The tree looked a lot less full than last weekend, and I’m pretty sure it was pillaged by someone else since them. But none-the-less, we got two giant bags of apples there. We knew of two other trees nearby, so we got 4 more bags from those. And there is still more to be had– which I’m seriously considering, since the apple press isn’t open on the weekend…I can go back…get more…trade more…its turning into a slight obsession.

Rich is there - can you find him?

With a couple of apples Rich made an eggless apple cake which Pete was very excited about. Last week Rich made cider. The bottle in the front is the one that he pasteurized. It’s tasty. The ones in back we are leaving to ferment into hard cider.

And at swimming lessons this week, Pete got to use flippers and go down the slide. He also put his face in the water twice (once accidentally), but he didn’t freak out. I like having him in the pool by himself, he likes to try things out, and if they don’t work he has to deal with it, instead of clinging to me and whining.
