Busy Friday

Peter had a tiring day on Friday. In the morning we headed off with playgroup to Egeskov Slot. It will be closing for the season at the end of this month, so we had to take advantage of their big playground just one more time. It was a small group - only three moms and four kids. But they played really well together, the weather was GGGGreat, and it turned out be a relaxing afternoon (for me at least).

Peter tried the tree-top walk. He made it to the top of the spiral staircase (with the only other mom that would go up there - I won't). He stood at the edge of the first bridge, staring it down for about 15 seconds, and then decided that he wanted to go back down the way he came. When I got him back down he said that when he's as old as daddy he'll try it again.

That's him in the red shirt - way up high.

Did you know that Friday was International Talk Like A Pirate Day - just another reason for some people to party I guess. So while he was playing in the pirate ship, I told him it was talk like a pirate day - and he just wouldn't believe me.

After playgroup we went to swimming lessons. We just signed up for these last week and there were some guidelines - like you had to be 5 years old, and you have to be comfortable getting your head wet, and a big one - you have to be alone in the pool.

Well, I wasn't quite sure of any of these with Pete (well, I'm sure he's not 5). But our friend who helped us sign up said the swimming people said we could give it a try. So we did.

He did pretty good all by himself. He wears floaties on his arms and belt on his waist. I know it may detract a little from *learning* how to swim, but it keeps him from drowning. For right now I would like him to work on feeling more comfortable in the water, getting splashed, and getting his face and head wet.
