Monday's chosen expedition was to Aqua Freshwater Aquarium in Silkeborg, located on Jutland peninsula. Once off the main highway, the drive was wonderful. Large, forested hills, and low wetland drainageways. There were indoor and outdoor parts to the park, something for everyone really.
Like the Odense Zoo, the park also had scheduled feeding times. We got to watch - close up - pike eat live, smaller perch-type fish. We also got to see minks eat dead fish, gizzards, and just drowned baby chicks. A duck tried to eat Pete's shoe (I think he got close to its nest). And we followed some men with a box labeled "live animal" and watched them release some sort of south African muskrat family to their new pen.
We missed the otter feeding, but they did play for us a bit.
Also, the park was located on a freshwater lake, bordered by wooded, boggy, wetland. It was beautiful. I would definitely like to visit this place again. (When I get a chance, I'll put more photos on the wetlands on my blog.)
