(Instant) German Knodel (Ka-noodle)
In Germany a few weekends back we picked up a couple boxes if instant knodel. Inside the box were six individually bagged knodels, and in each bag were lots of small, dry balls. After boiling for just two quick minutes however, they magically became one large and moist intact ball of bread and potato (got to hand it to those food science majors for thinking this up). They weren't bad - definitely better than the spatzel.
Pork chops, mushroom gravy, knodel, and German Beer. Rich was in HEAVEN.
