Pete had him try all of the *fun* things like...crossing the stream; going through the log playground; and, going through the cat tunnel. (An automatic recording of a jaguar growl inside the tunnel scared Pete so bad last time that he firmly declined to go through tunnel this time.)

Pete got a very good look at the lion this time around. And the lion was having a very good look at the people too. It appeared a bit too calm and calculated to me.
This is what was left of the pony? fed to the lions the day before. Just hair and bones.
Now off to Deuchland...
Friday morning we packed up the car and took off to Hamburg - the second largest city in Germany. Rich chose a hotel that was located near in the main sight-seeing areas & harbors AND had a pool AND allowed kids.
Pete in the pool. Given the choice he would have never the water.
Friday night dinner. My dish (up close) was a white fish with leeks smothered in béarnaise sauce. It was good, but a person can only stomach so much béarnaise. Rich's dish was one white fish and one salmon. He said it was very good. My beer was served up in a wine glass along with a doily on the glass stem. Fancy.
Saturday we took a double-decker bus tour around Hamburg Centre, followed up by a visit to the TOY STORE!!!! I promised Pete a new toy purchase with this trip. He didn't want to pause for a picture either - let's just get these things paid for so I can get them back to the hotel and out of the boxes.
Saturday night dinner. I had the farmer’s plate - a pork steak, fried potatoes and mixed sautéed veggies. Pete had some of my pork steak along with a nice tall glass of warm cream (they look at you crazy when you ask for cold milk, and it’s always a crap shoot as to what they will actually bring to the table). Rich had the fisherman's plate - potato hash, topped with fried eggs, and served with a side of cold things - lettuce, pickles, beets, and herring fillets. He liked it OK. The main bummer of the weekend was that the Bavarian restaurant that Rich had been dreaming about was closed for the holiday.
Sunday morning we took the subway train down to the harbor for the fisherman's market. There were at least a hundred (maybe more) stalls selling fresh fish, veggies, fruit, meat, bread, sandwiches, plants, coffee, cloths, bags, knick-knacks... Rich had a fish sandwich and a curry worst, I had a regular worst with mustard, and Pete had a meat stick and some fresh rolls.
After that we took the subway train to another part of town to catch an english Easter service at a catholic church.
All worn out, we packed up the car and headed back home to our nice and cozy beds. Its a good thing we have this Monday to catch up on our R&R.

That was quite an impressive trip / vacation. I enjoy seeing pictures of your meals and reading about how everything tastes. Glad to hear you are doing well and Pete is enjoying the new language and other kids. How is your danish coming along, Melissa?
Later,
