Old & New

Starting just after Thanksgiving 2010, we proceeded to redo the kitchen. We went in three parts so as to be able to still cook (does microwaving things count?), eat (out of the fridge), and wash dishes (in the bath).

A few items are still undone. I haven't figured out the range back splash yet, and we need to think about more lighting - but its at the point it can be forgotten about for the summer.

Wall #1 - Refrigerator wall.

Wall #2 - Oven and stove wall.

Wall #3 - Sink and dishwasher wall.

After our last order was delivered, the BIG! Ikea kitchen sale was announced. Just our luck. And no, we were not able to get any cha-ching back. Still, we did save thousands by doing it ourselves (eh-hem, Rich doing it himself), and getting a nice deal on the counter (family connection).

FYI(1) - that counter top is mineral black Formica brand laminate. FYI(2) - The people at Natural-Built Home would not call me back about the sustainable paper counter tops. I don't know why because those things cost as much as granite. Maybe it was for the best though. I love my Formica.

End of year school stuff...

Peter is air born! (blue shirt, yellow shorts)

Peter reads a Chinese book to two Kindergarten girls. He was not this happy when he told me about it at home.
