Back at the Shack

Whew...we've made back to DK. Just like the last time, Peter got really punchy in about the 16th hour of travel. But since the air-travel portion of the trip was uneventful, I won't complain.

Rich and I spent the first day shopping shopping shopping, while Peter spent the day with Grandma and Grandpa at the fair. We started the day out at Chipotle, splitting an always tasty pork burrito with a side of chips and guacamole...mmmmm sooo good. Then we went off and bought things we can't get in DK, like cold medicine, Oreos, and wasabi mustard.

We spent the next three days on the farm. We had a couple of BBQs, complete with sweet corn from the garden. And, Peter got to drive the tractor, feed the pigs, check out the new baby cows, and the turkey barns. (Side note: Mike Barrett has a few pigs still available. If your interested in buying some Happy Pig, let me know via email and I'll tell you how it all works. Although the pigs are not organic, they live a happy life, outside, and unconfined).

On the weekend we made it the great MN get together...the State Fair. This year it seemed that the Eco building was getting lots of air time on TV interviews, and so was Rich's uncle's Green Pepper booth. I guess the deep fried pepper rings (a new menu item) were tasty.

And as always, the butterfly building was a hit. It was really crowded the day we were there, so Pete only had about two butterfies on him at a time. But that was ok with him, he let them talk to one another. He can be so gentle and calm.

And then he can be crazy too. We are going through a stage right now where everything gets climbed on. Including people - wood people, and real people too.

We also got to spend a relaxing day at the cabin.

Overall it was a nice trip. We visited lots of people, and took care of some business as well - like checking out some kindergartens for when we return. Big highlights for Peter were seeing Linda's baby Nora and gambling (playing dice) with Grandma Lorraine (he pronounces her name Grandma Durraine). He returned to Denmark without tears, and now we'll continue our adventure here for a bit.
