Last Friday we went to Hamburg, Germany to pick up grandma Connie. Rich really really wanted to go grocery shopping in Germany for hot dogs and beer. Pete won't eat the Danish hot dogs, they are taught on the outside and mushy on the inside, and he just gags away. As for the beer, Rich always wants to buy beer. I wasn't really up for it, but once we were in the store I couldn't control myself. Not only did they have a huge selection of hot dogs and meat sticks, everything was sooooooo much cheaper. Still more expensive than the U.S., but cheaper than in DK.
At the airport Pete had a yummy ice cream snack and Rich and I split a beer, some weiners, and a tasty roll with mustard.
Grandma's plane arrived on time, and, after cleverly discussing the contents and cost of her baggage with customs, she was a free woman. And yes - the bike trailer also made it onto the plane, through customs, and to our place. Yippee!
Saturday we went to downtown Odense where they have "walking streets". It’s an area where cars are not allowed on the narrow cobbled streets. There are shops, restaurants, statues, fountains. It was a nice little walk. After that we took her on over to the Turkish market and had a late lunch (Sudanese style), picked up some veggies and bread for the week, and headed home.
The purpose of grandma's visit is to just hang out with Pete for a few days, so that's plan for the rest of the week. Now I just have to decide what to do with all of my Pete free time.

Germany = Kinder Eggs!!! We've never actually had them, but I hear they're all the rage. Chocolate eggs w/ little toys in them. Illegal in the US because of the "choking hazard"... BRING SOME BACK! ;-) (No, not that I want my child to choke on toys.)
Ok, I could go for a good beer, too.
Gen still thinks Pete is just a few blocks away and is waiting for him to come for a sleepover. She loves looking at the photos!!
