Pete had his first day at børnhave (daycare) this week. He was there for a short day on Monday, and thankfully, he loved it! He played with some new toys, ate ALL his lunch, and learned a somewhat new phrase - Jeg hidder Peter, pronounced "Yai hither Peter", and translated...My name is Peter. On Tuesday all the kids were getting in taxis and going to someone's house for a birthday party, so I kept him home. Its too soon for that.
Today we are trying out a 5-6 hour day. I dropped him off before our Danish language teacher arrived (9am), and I'm going to pick him up after afternoon snack at 2pm. Unless his grown-up calls and tells me to come sooner. So far I like his main grown-up Helle, she's very personable and calm, and that makes me not as anxious as I could be. (Incidentally, Pete seems to like her too – he’s a sucker for pretty girls with blond hair.)
Last weekend a few of Rich's co-workers from Mpls took us all out for dinner. Unbelievably, Pete ate two ribs from his rib-&-fries plate. He wasn't interested in doing that until I told him that this is how a dog likes to eat, tearing meat off the bone. The next day I think he had a red meat hangover. That’s the most (quantity wise) unprocessed (not ground up) red meat he's ever eaten in his life. These pics are from a camara phone, so they are a bit blury.
