Rich went all out again and made Rafael, Peter's favorite ninja turtle. It was chocolate AND vegan. The key to making vegan cakes is to start a day or two early because they don't always turn out (too runny, too dense). It only took Rich two tries to get it just perfect this year. Rich also got all "ace of cakes" on us by using fondant for the bandanna and other details. (Just to recap - Pete's other birthday cakes were - 1st year - A baseball, 2nd year - Blue from blues clues (with matching paw print), 3rd year - Mickey Mouse. All created by pastry chef Rich. He will voluntarily go to a baking or craft store to get the right equipment or dye.)

The aunties had fun playing with Pete.
And Pete was a bit enthralled with the great grandmas for a while.
The last gift of the day was a harmonic from Auntie Linda. He's been calling it a remonica.
